Lifted off when I asked it to.Īctually it was really just about like the GWS A10 in flight. I thought it may never get off like this, but it turned out to be good, as it allowed it to get up to a good speed without premature liftoff. Also, the incidence angle in reference to the ground is zero. Won't do it again with this model, as its not needed. It's easier to hold up elevator and trim, than to have to force down initially, going into a flight, which is why I'm very conservative and often use a hair of down trim to start. Before trimming, I was lucky to not crash, as these 20" models aren't exactly like trimming a Slow Stick. Wasn't bad after trimming elevator, but it took more up trim than I expected, showing an incidence change would help. Was plenty flyable, but not as nice a flyer as the Vampire. I'm really not a big A10 fan, so the best thing about this build is that I now have a spec where I can build a 20" span 6oz twin jet with no problem. Flew about 8 minutes on the TP-PL 3s-480 without hitting LVC, and no, I did not attempt to land on the little park road.

Full throttle was probably faster than my EDF55 A10, even accounting for the fact that small planes appear to be going faster. My biggest surprise was how much power this plane had with 2 fans.

Took off from the park road, which was a little rought for something with a 1/2" nosewheel. Wish I had done these back when Ryan's contest was going on.įor fan building info, and a Vampire single fan project:
